Renovated ibis Tilburg officially opened on October 2: from 80 to 184 rooms

On Friday, October 2, we celebrated the official opening of the renovated ibis Tilburg together with over 350 guests. With 104 new rooms, we are growing from 80 to 184 rooms, and our lobby, CHILL – Café & Bar, gym, and The Hangout also received a new or renewed space. Extra special: thanks to our guests, we raised €3,575 for Stichting Leergeld Tilburg, enough for 33 bicycles for young people in Tilburg.

Renovated ibis Tilburg officially opened on October 2: from 80 to 184 rooms

On Friday, October 2, 2026, the time had come: we celebrated the official opening of the renewed ibis Tilburg. Together with more than 350 guests, we marked a special milestone. After an intensive period of building and renovation, we could finally show the result: 104 new hotel rooms, a renewed lobby and CHILL – Café & Bar, as well as new facilities such as our gym and The Hangout.

With the expansion, we are growing from 80 to no fewer than 184 hotel rooms. A special step for ibis Tilburg, of which we are incredibly proud.

A completely renewed ibis Tilburg

During the festive opening on October 2, we took our guests through the renewed hotel. Of course, our completely new hotel wing was the main focus. Here, 104 new rooms have been created according to the ibis Plaza concept: modern and smartly designed, with, of course, the familiar Sweet Bed by ibis.

We also paid extra attention in the expansion to guests traveling together. For example, sixteen rooms with connecting doors and three spacious family rooms have been added.

But more has changed than just the number of rooms. Our lobby and CHILL – Café & Bar have been completely renewed, and we have added new places where our guests can exercise, relax and come together. In our new gym, you can stay active during your stay, while The Hangout offers a great place to unwind, play a game or spend time together.

International ibis, locally connected

During the official part, Erwin van der Graaf from Accor, alderman Bas van der Pol and Heleen Huisjes from Brabant Partners took us from the international ibis brand, via our own city of Tilburg, to the appeal of Brabant.

That combination fits exactly with who we want to be. We are proud to be part of an international hotel brand, while at the same time feeling strongly connected to Tilburg and Brabant.

You can see that local character reflected, for example, at CHILL – Café & Bar. Here, we give local flavors and collaborations a platform with our Local Heroes. Think of the stew from Puur Brabant, prepared with our own Puur Blond beer.

We create a hotel together

An expansion like this is, of course, not something you realize alone. Behind the scenes, an incredible number of people have helped build the renewed ibis Tilburg over the past period. From builders and installers to designers, suppliers and other partners. During the opening, we were therefore happy to put them in the spotlight.

But ultimately, it is our colleagues who ensure every day that a hotel becomes more than just a building. That is why it was extra special that Managing Partner Niek van den Broek chose not to cut the ribbon himself. That honor went to General Manager Mandy Princen and our Managers on Duty.

As Niek beautifully put it during the opening: “We can conceive, finance and build a hotel. They and all our colleagues ensure every day that memories are made.”

A celebration with a local touch

Of course, we also wanted that local connection to be reflected during our opening. After the official moment, it was time to raise a glass together and enjoy live music and an extensive walking dinner.

For this, we worked together with various entrepreneurs and suppliers from Tilburg and Brabant. Our guests enjoyed treats from, among others, De Commanderie, Locals Coffee Roasters, ’t IJsboerinneke, Bossche Wijnkoperij, Cas & Kas Bitterballen and Puur Brabant.

Together, they ensured that Tilburg and Brabant were also well represented in culinary terms during our opening.

Together, we are providing 33 bicycles for young people in Tilburg

Prior to our opening, we were regularly asked whether we had any gift wishes. For us, the answer was simple: the presence of our guests was already a gift. So for anyone who still wanted to give something, we asked them not to bring flowers or wine, but to make a contribution to Stichting Leergeld Tilburg. At that time, there were 78 secondary school students on the waiting list for a bicycle. For 110 euros, Stichting Leergeld can provide a good second-hand bicycle, so that a young person can independently get to school, sports or friends.

And how proud we are of the result: together, we raised no less than €3,575 for ‘ibis bicycle for Tilburg’. This means 33 children in Tilburg can be made happy with a second-hand bicycle.

We really couldn’t have wished for a better gift for our opening. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this! ❤️

On to many new memories

After the official opening moment, it was time to raise a glass together. With live music, a walking dinner and more than 350 guests, we celebrated this special milestone into the evening.

We look back on the official opening on October 2 with tremendous pleasure, but above all look forward with great enthusiasm. Our renewed hotel is open, our 184 rooms are ready and our team can’t wait to welcome both returning and new guests.
